The Final Gathering
Mar 29, 2021
Around the embers,
of the last fire, huddle few.
Pondering what was,
what happened, what could have been.
They call him captain,
once he flew fleets in the stars,
now he lay in dust.
Beside him a grizzled voice,
of an old chef, spoke.
Who knew captain, of the curse?
These final embers,
let us smile at humanity,
apes which flew in space.
Forget the stars’ demons sir,
perhaps it was meant,
perhaps it was not,
either way,
its,
done,
now.
Captain’s solemn stare,
his final comrade on earth,
now he was alone,
last of the humanity.
Once upon a time,
a captain,
a friend,
a hope,
a son,
now,
lone.
