I am Icarus, I am Apollo

A Poem to Motivate Myself

Some want to go,

rising off in the sunset.

A rare few go,

riding into the sunset.

Most become sturdy lamps,

providing light to those close.

I want to be the fire,

that brings light to all.

I want to be the sun,

that never set.

I will not go riding into that sunset,

I will be Apollo rising,

brighter than Helios.

But maybe its just a wish,

maybe just a farce.

So what if it is,

if it takes me further than far.

Most walk long roads,

but I want to fly.

Build my own craft,

I will take it to the sky.

If I am Icarus than so be it.

He flew higher,

than anyone before did.

If I plunge into the sea,

than I will learn to swim.

If there is a fish that flies,

than I will learn from him.

The more times I drown,

the more I learn to breath.

I will fly close to the sun,

burn it up and be free.
